Goodreads synopsis:

“Reporter Emily Baxter has a great job, an apartment in Manhattan, and a boyfriend she loves. All that changes the day the red rain falls from a cloudless sky. Just hours after the first reports from Europe, humanity is on the brink of extinction, wiped from the face of the earth in a few bloody moments, leaving Emily alone in an empty city. As she struggles to grasp the magnitude of her situation, Emily becomes the final witness to the end of our world… and the birth of a terrifying new one.

The world she knew and loved is dead and gone. Now Emily must try to find a way out of New York as the truth behind the red rain is revealed: the earth no longer belongs to humanity.”

My review:

What I liked about Extinction Point:

*I was able to read it in one night. Which meant that I stayed up uber late finishing it

* It was genuinely creepy. The scene where Emily finds the mashed together family still gives me chills

* I liked that the author decided that the Alaska and the northern countries/continent (and I am going to assume Antartica is in with this too) were left out. Which means mankind can prevail (sorry, a bit tired….lol)

What I didn’t like about Extinction Point

*That everything happened within a day. All of NYC was wiped out within a day.

*Emily was the only one left in NYC. Not in the US or the world (sorry, spoiler alert) but in NYC. You would think that at least someone would have survived.

*The ending. I don’t like cliffhangers. But in this case, it worked. Now I want to read the 2nd book

Book I am reading now:
